“I believe nutrition is an essential centerpiece to long-term health, wellness, and happiness. If you're eating well, sleeping well, and pooping well, you're probably in a good place.”

MEET SYDNEY

Sydney Axelrod is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in New York City. Sydney grew up in New Jersey and graduated from The University of Michigan, where she majored in Psychology. Passionate about Nutrition and Dietetics, Sydney enrolled at New York University to earn her Masters of Science in Clinical Nutrition. She completed her Dietetic Internship through NYU, and did her clinical rotations at The Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC.

After becoming an RD, Sydney joined The Mount Sinai Clinical Nutrition Department as a Clinical Dietitian. She treated General Medicine, GastroIntestinal, Oncology, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery and Critical Care patients. Sydney ultimately provided dedicated nutrition coverage in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, where she specialized in critical care nutrition support and worked through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In late 2020, The Mount Sinai National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute created an outpatient role for Sydney as their dedicated Clinical Dietitian. There, she treated patients with various forms of respiratory illness and lung disease and played an integral role in creating the Mount Sinai Lung Transplant Program.

After a number of years at Mount Sinai and advising clients on a part-time basis, she's decided to launch Axelrod Nutrition, a full-service Nutrition and Dietitian practice offering in-person and virtual appointments. I combine my scientific background with a real world every day life approach to help you look and feel your best today!

Sydney lives in Manhattan with her husband Jeremy, their son Teddy and their Mini-Bernedoodle, Moose. She is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the Greater New York Dietetic Association (GNYDA).  She serves on the Emerging Leadership Committee and the Development Committees of the 92nd Street Y. She is also a two-time NYC Marathon runner. Her favorite meal to cook for her family is Taco Tuesday. Her favorite dessert is Banana Cream Pie. Her last meal before execution would be Caesar Salad, Pizza topped with mushrooms & meatballs, and Tiramisu (not that she’s ever thought about this!” 😉)

“I had been a chronic yo-yo dieter until Sydney finally educated me on the importance of long term progress versus short term gratification. She has transformed my relationship with food into a healthy and balanced one in which I don’t feel guilt for eating foods I enjoy. Sydney is kind and client focused; she catered our sessions to my individual needs and made a plan specific to my lifestyle.” - JESS

“I was struggling with losing weight and once I started working with Sydney I saw an almost immediate change. Together we chose to try a keto diet and wow was there a difference! Not only was the change physical, but I felt more clear mentally. Her compassion and patience made the process of moving to a keto diet easy and manageable. Now we’ve added carbs and I’m following a Mediterranean diet and the weight has stayed off. I feel great!” - JOSEPH

“I have seen a number of nutritionists since being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Each of them have been helpful in their own way, but Sydney was the only RD that was able to help me lower my A1C. I am so thankful for the guidance Sydney has given me. I will absolutely continue to work with her as my habits evolve.” - BRITTANY

“I’m a former Division 1 athlete who used to be in top shape. Now, 12 years removed from competition, my love for food and wine has unfortunately caught up with me. Sydney has taught me about balance. Together we have revamped my fridge and pantry, and created a healthy and sustainable diet. We speak weekly and I feel better than ever. Thank you Syd!” - NICK

“Working with Sydney has been a great experience! She has completely reshaped the way I think about food by equipping me with the knowledge and tools to create balanced meals while still being able to incorporate my favorite foods without ever feeling guilty. I have never felt better!” - APRIL
